Weekly Outlook: May 21 - May 25
Monday
United States: A series of Federal Reserve speakers are due for the day, including FOMC Bostic at 16:15 GMT, Harker at 18:05 GMT and Kashkari at 21:30 GMT.
Tuesday
Europe: UK CBI Industrial Trends Orders for May are scheduled for release at 10:00 GMT.
United States: The API will release weekly inventory estimates at 14:30 GMT.
Wednesday
Europe: Germany’s Q1 GDP is up at 06:00 GMT, with a 0.3 percent q/q growth rate seen. Preliminary readings on manufacturing and services PMIs for May will be out at 07:30 GMT. EU’s manufacturing and services PMIs will be released at 08:00 GMT. In the UK, focus will be at the CPI and PPI Input, both scheduled at 08:30 GMT.
United States: Markit Economics is expected to present preliminary manufacturing and services activity data at 13:45 GMT. New home sales for April are next at 14:00 GMT. Also, the Energy Department will unveil official crude inventories half and hour later. Minutes of the latest FOMC monetary policy meeting will be out at 18:00 GMT.
Thursday
Asia: Germany’s GfK consumer climate index for June is due at 06:00 GMT.
Europe: UK retail sales data for April will be released at 08:30 GMT, followed by Inflation Report Hearings by the Bank of England at 09:00 GMT. At 11:30 GMT, the European Central Bank will publish the Account of Monetary Policy Meeting.
United States: Initial Jobless Claims are up at 12:30 GMT. Existing home sales will be next at 14:00 GMT and FOMC Harker will speak for a second time on the week at 18:00 GMT.
Asia: Tokyo’s Core CPI for May is scheduled at 23:30 GMT, with a 0.8 percent rate eyed.
Friday
Europe: Germany’s business expectations, current assessment and lfo business climate for May are all to be released at 08:00 GMT. Analysts are forecasting 98.5, 105.5 and 102 respectively. Investors will get a look at the UK Q1 GDP half an hour later.
United States: durable goods orders for April will be out at 12:30 GMT. Federal Reserve Chair Powell will speak at 13:00 GMT, followed by FOMC Bostic and Kaplan at 15:45 GMT. Michigan’s consumer sentiment for May is up at 14:00 GMT.
