Weekly Outlook: May 07 - May 11
Monday
Asia: Japan’s household spending for March is due as of 23:30 GMT, with a 0.7 percent month-over-month reading eyed.
Europe: Germany’s factory orders for March will be out at 06:00 GMT.
United States: FOMC members Bostic and Kaplan will speak at 12:25 GMT and 19:30 GMT respectively. Investors will closely monitor these speeches.
Tuesday
Asia: China's trade balance for April is expected to be released early morning hours, as well as exports and imports. Analysts are forecasting a trade surplus of $27.21 billion.
Europe: Germany’s industrial production and trade balance for March are up at 06:00 GMT. The UK Halifax house price index is due for release at 07:30 GMT. Also, the EU Economic Forecasts will be presented at 09:00 GMT.
United States: JOLTs job openings for March will be out at 14:00 GMT, followed by weekly crude inventory estimates by the American Petroleum Institute as of 20:30 GMT.
Wednesday
Asia: Japan’s current account for March will become available at 23:50 GMT.
United States: the producer price index for April is up at 12:30 GMT. Oil traders will be looking at crude inventories by the US Energy Information Administration at 14:30 GMT.
Thursday
Asia: China’s consumer price index and producer price index for April will be released at 01:30 GMT, with analysts estimating 2.6 percent and 3.2 percent y/y growths respectively.
Europe: the ECB’s economic bulletin is up at 08:00 GMT, followed by UK’s industrial and manufacturing production at 08:30 GMT, as well as trade balance figures for March. Also, the Bank of England is holding a new monetary policy meeting, but no changes are seen. The interest rate decision is due at 11:00 GMT.
United States: the consumer price index for April will be out at 12:30 GMT, along with initial jobless claims. The Federal Budget Balance is next at 18:00 GMT.
Friday
United States: the export/import price indexes for April are expected at 12:30 GMT. Later on, the University of Michigan will present its consumer sentiment survey for May at 14:00 GMT. FOMC Bullard is scheduled to speak as of 16:30 GMT.
