Health Really Means Wealth
And here we are. One more week in our lovely markets. As usual, Monday is expected to be a bit soft on the data front. Volatility is low, activity is restrained and everybody still thinks about that great party they attended during the past weekend. But let’s face it: it’s time to work.
And in this occasion I would like to leave numbers behind and focus on a very important issue that affects our trading every single time we sit in front of our trading stations, our precious health. In order to perform as a pro, you should give your best not only up there (in your brain), but also be in harmony with your body, providing it with a quality lifestyle.
- Stress down with water
It’s a vicious cycle. Stress causes dehydration and dehydration can increase your stress levels. A simple way to break this cycle is to start drinking your daily water dosis everyday. Running low on water causes stress because your brain and body are just not getting enough to function as they should. A good tip is to always keep a visible water in your desk.
- Energy drinks, stay away
Nothing like a good cup of coffee to start the day. We all know that feeling and especially when you live in cold places, there’s simply nothing more comforting. But we are all aware that one cup turns into another and by the end of the day, we could have like 6 cups in average.
Your organism gets used pretty fast to caffeine and suddenly, you’ll feel one cup is not turning you into supertrader anymore. Excess coffee won’t give you anything but more visits to the restroom. Instead, try for a healthier option, like green tea.
- Fat lunch, fat losses
The only profit you can get out of a fatty big lunch is a nap. And unless you’re Don Draper (Haven’t you watched “Mad Men”?), you can’t take one in the office. Therefore, turn for lighter options that will give you calories enough to work and not to roll.
- Take an (active) break
No matter if you work at home or in an office. You can always take a 10-15 min break outside, moving your legs and breathing. Believe me. You’ll feel much better than if you would have spent that time near the water cooler talking about Donald Trump’s crazy tweets.
- Make it all part of your routine
Once you tried these few things (and understood how beneficial they actually are) you should include in your daily routine, making them a normal thing, something that it’s part of you.
Your body (and trading) will thank you!
