Weekly Outlook: Aug 14 - Aug 18
Monday
Asia: Japan’s gross domestic product for the second quarter is due at 23:50 GMT on Sunday, with a 0.6 percent seen. China is set to present fixed asset investment and industrial production for July at 02:00 GMT, with an expected increase of 8.6 percent a 7.2 percent.
Europe: the Eurozone is expected to release June’s industrial production as of 09:00 GMT.
Tuesday
Asia: Japanese industrial production for June is due at 04:30 GMT.
Europe: Germany’s second-quarter gross domestic product will be out at 08:30 GMT, with a 0.6 percent economic expansion eyed. Meanwhile, the UK will release its consumer price index and producer price index for July.
United States: first reports from the US come in at 12:30 GMT, including retail sales for July, with a 0.4 percent seen, export and import price indexes, both expecting a 0.1 percent increase, and the New York Empire State manufacturing index. Business inventories for June are due at 14:00 GMT, while TIC net long-term transactions are set for 20:00 GMT.
Wednesday
Europe: UK average earnings index + bonus, claimant count change and the unemployment rate for June are set to be released as of 08:30 GMT. EU’s Q2 GDP is next at 09:00 GMT, with a forecasted 0.6 percent build.
United States: building permits and housing starts for July are scheduled at 12:30 GMT, with a 1.246 million units and 1.222 million units eyed.
Asia: Japan’s exports and trade balance for July are due at 23:50 GMT, with a 13.6 percent rise and a 392 billion yen reading seen.
Thursday
Europe: the United Kingdom will take the lead on the data front, with retail sales for July set to hit the markets as of 08:30 GMT. Attention will also be directed to the Eurozone’s consumer price index and trade balance figures for July at 09:00 GMT.
United States: the Philly Fed manufacturing index for August and industrial production for July are to be published at 12:30 GMT and 13:15 GMT respectively. The US Energy Information Administration will release its weekly inventory report at 14:30 GMT.
Friday
Europe: German producer price index is set for 06:00 GMT.
United States: the University of Michigan will present its consumer expectations and sentiment at 14:00 GMT, with a 93.9 reading expected for the late one.
